General Shipping Information All of us at BookBaskets.net want your gifts to get into the hands of their recipients ASAP, just as you do. And because of UPS' and other shippers' policies of charging by cubic weight, it's most economical to ship via UPS Ground or USPS Priority Mail. (Cubic weight is box size x weight; most boxes we use are 12" x 12" x 17" or 16" x 16" x 12" -- big enough to ensure that your gift is well-protected.) The map above is direct from the UPS website showing how long gifts take to get from our zip code to various states via Ground service. We do not recommend shipping directly to hospitals and can't accept responsibility if a patient has checked out before your package is delivered. It's always a better idea to ship to the patient's home or to the home of a loved one who can take the gift to the hospital on your behalf. On the rare but possible chance that a gift is returned to us from a hospital, we can only refund to you the cost of the gift, not the shipping cost. If you do ship directly to a hospital, our practice is to use your own address as the return address, so that you will be able to make the best decision about forwarding the package if the hospital returns it. UPS Ground: Since we currently ship from Los Angeles, CA, shipments usually arrive on the east coast four to five business days after our day of shipment--four now for key metropolitan areas (See UPS delivery map above). Weekend days are not counted in that figure. Whenever possible, we ship orders the same day, but, especially in the case of customized gifts(including the Build Your Own Book Gift Basket and the Bestseller Bookstack) or the week before major holidays (Christmas, Hanukkah, Easter, Mother's Day), we may ship the next business day after the day you placed your order. If there is anything we can do to help you meet a special deadline, please email our friendly and responsive staff in Customer Service. USPS Priority Mail is a more affordable option for rushing larger packages, as the postal service doesn't charge by dimensional weight. Most packages arrive in 2-3 days not counting the day we ship, and Saturday is a normal delivery day. However, while generally very reliable, USPS Priority Mail does not guarantee 2-3 days, particularly during the December holiday season. USPS Express Mail is the postal service's most reliable and fastest express service, arriving in one day after our day of shipment to most zip codes. It is also the most affordable overnight shipment method available for packages of the size and weight that book gift baskets require. Some very rural area codes, however, require two days to arrive. (Please see the United States Postal Service site at www.USPS.com and check the delivery time using our "ship from" zip code of 90041 and your own "ship to" zip code if you'd like to know before you ship.)
